CEREC® Crowns FAQs

If you have any questions about CEREC® Crowns, we’ve got answers.

CEREC crowns offer the same durability as traditional crowns, lasting 10 to 15 years or more with proper maintenance. Regular brushing and flossing are crucial to prolong their lifespan, just as with natural teeth. These crowns are similarly priced to conventional ones but have the benefit of being made in just one day, avoiding the typical wait of a week or longer.

While CEREC crowns have several benefits, there are some drawbacks to consider:

  • Limited Availability: Not all dental practices offer CEREC crowns.

  • Color Matching: The success of color matching with natural teeth depends heavily on the dentist's expertise.

  • Eligibility: Patients with cracks below the gum line cannot use CEREC crowns.

  • Durability: Though CEREC crowns are durable, they are not as strong as metal crowns.

Discuss with your dentist to determine if CEREC crowns are the right choice for your dental needs.

CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic) crowns are a unique type of dental crown. Unlike traditional crowns, which necessitate wearing a temporary crown for several weeks and a follow-up visit to install the permanent one, CEREC crowns are crafted and placed in approximately two hours. Despite this difference in the process, both CEREC and traditional crowns have a similar lifespan and cost.
